Project Update: Human-Elephant Conflict

We are proud to report significant success in our efforts to mitigate Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) in the Gonaganara Buttala area. For the fourth consecutive season, no elephants have entered the village through the tank, enabling uninterrupted cultivation of paddy fields. This achievement ensures both the safety of the community and the preservation of their livelihoods.

A combination of community-driven strategies and sustainable mitigation methods has proven highly effective, creating a stable environment for farmers and their crops. The uninterrupted cultivation for four seasons not only enhances food security but also showcases the potential for long-term coexistence between humans and wildlife.
